I Will Not Take My Love Away – in Stress or in Change…or in a Storm

It’s Wed. night – the last Wed. night we’ll live in Hutto.  Today I lost focus and found myself overwhelmed. I cried several times and had to encourage myself several times and read scripture (that I wrote on my bathroom mirror). I practiced the songs I was going to sing tonight (at Hutto Baptist) and that helped too. I can’t help but wonder if the words to the 1st song were more for me than anyone.

The 2nd song I was to sing right afterward, was Cece Winans’ version of  the hymn, “Great is Thy Faithfulness”. After rehearsals and getting ready for the night, everyone was there in the sanctuary, worshiping and I went on stage to sing next, after the kids had their fun action-songs at the front.  When they were nearly done, there was loud rain, and all the lights & power went out – & then 2 minutes later, came back on along with a loud screeching feedback noise – then went back out again – and that’s when the Pastor said it could do this all night – and pretty much dismissed service.

I was laughing, but I was upset, because I knew that some there would have been ministered to by the lyrics. As I sang them this evening while getting ready in the bathroom, they really helped me regain right perspective. Both songs are powerful and beautiful.

At the end of service, before everyone left, Andrew stepped down from stage and did a truly ‘unplugged’ version of “How Great is Our God” – so fitting during a powerful storm (even as I type this post, the storm continues on and is rumbling and shaking our home). I hope it was captivating to the Lord – this melody with thunder and rain as the only instruments to accompany it.  His love was felt this evening. How I love Him back.  There will be other times to sing for Him. But this night at Hutto Baptist was an experience I won’t soon forget.

Below are the words & chords to that 1st song, unsung:

I WILL NOT TAKE MY LOVE AWAY

…..D                              G           D
I will not take my love away
………..G                           Bm                A
when praises cease & seasons change
……………..D                                         G            D
while the whole world turns the other way
…..D                              A           D
I will not take my love away

~

I will not leave you all alone

when striving leads you far from home

and there’s no yield for what you’ve sown

I will not leave you all alone

bridge:

Oh(Bm)…..oh(A).…..oh(G)

Bm                    A                                                G            …A     D
Yeah(Bm)…..(A chord)……(yeah, yeah)..(now play a G chord), hold it, then hit a A, then a D

~

I will give you what you need

In fancy or in poverty

Forever, always look to me

And I will give you what you need(Bm)

D                                A         D
I will not take my love away

It was to be followed by these words, accompanied by piano:

.

Summer and winter, springtime and harvest

Sun, moon and stars in their courses above

Join with all nature in manifold witness

To Thy great faithfulness, mercy & love

.

Great is Thy faithfulness (x2)

Morning by morning, new mercies I see!

All I have needed, Thy hand hath provided

Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.

.

Pardon for sin & a peace that endureth

Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide

Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow

Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside

.

…(He gives me)… Strength for today

And bright hope for tomorrow

Blessings all mine

With ten thousand beside

Sometimes God has different plans for us. The idea tonight was to create a service out of the ordinary instead of doing the “same ol” and I believe we accomplished that. Until now, I felt defeated and broken. Thank you to you and your husband for being open to helping us!!! Blessings to all of you.

Beautiful, as always. I feel sad, but especially for those who have not heard you sing. They’re missing a wonderful blessing. Thanks for opening your heart with this note, though, and please know that we send our love and prayers for you guys as you start fresh in your new home. We miss y’all already. Thanks for being a part of our lives, and for letting us be a part of yours. Keep in touch!!
