What’s Your Favorite Christmas Carol? Why?

Have you given some thought to the lyrics of “O Holy Night“? It has been my favorite for years. The words ring and resound with hope, rest and freedom from slavery.  If you take it a step further, the slavery can mean anything that someone is kept in bondage to. A stronghold they can’t seem to get away from, and that has control over them in some way.  There is hope for these among us. And we can share it.

This final verse is especially powerful:

Truly He taught us to love one another
His law is love and his gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break, for the slave is our brother
And in His name
all oppression shall cease

Let the words of this hymn fill your heart. And bring you into a space and time of pure praise.
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new glorious morn
…”

Drifting – a lullaby for Braylon

Drifting… drifting away
Into… another place
My son, you’re in the arms of Jehovah Shalom
In the arms of his grace (x2)

It was the Prince of Peace who humbled himself
And left his Father’s side
To see through tear-filled eyes, and tremble
To hear his momma’s lullaby

(key change)

Drifting, drifting away
Into another place
Child of mine, O so divine (2nd time: You are one of a kind)
Fall asleep…in the arms of his grace (x2)

Jesus, free us
of all of our fears
And we will rest in your arms of grace
Yes, we will rest in your arms of grace

“This Jesus”~ a Christmas Song of How Miracles Still Happen Today

He was conceived

Would you believe, of a virgin?

A star in the east

Lead men to the King of all kings

***

Visions of old,

Prophecies told of a Savior

Whose blood would now cleanse

All men of their sins. And forgive

Miracles …  They still happen today

Just in a different time & a different way

Chorus:

(Well,) That baby grew to…

Change the tune of a world-song

From life to death to…life again

It’s chorus still remains:

This Jesus…There’s

Somethin’ to this Jesus

Because of prayer

My depression took flight as I started to dance

If unaware

I’d-a given the credit to meds… or to chance

***

marriage was through

Infidelity robbed us, & left us for dead

We had to move

With no job for 8 mo.s,  but had our daily bread

Miracles …  yes, they still happen today;

Just in a different time and in a different way

Chorus:

(Cause) my … Jesus grew to –

Change the tune of a world-song

From life to death to…life again

It’s chorus still remains:

This Jesus…There’s

Somethin’ to this Jesus (x2)

Miracles …  They still change lives today

Just in a different time and in a different way

Miracles …  They still change lives today

If we believe and we step out in faith! Faith in…

This Jesus…There’s still

Somethin’ to this Jesus (x2)
